 Monterey 5 November 2006

Organisers comments:
Over 40 riders thoroughly enjoyed the challenging courses set by Brett Merchant in the Kuipto forest on the 'Monterey' map.

Superb weather gave everyone the chance to enjoy the challenges of negotiating some single track around the Prospect Hill AMB racetrack as well as the  roads in the pretty native and pine forests.
The long course was hotly contested, with eventual winner David Clarke giving Steve Sullivan no mercy for a 'unfortunate' route choice between 1 and 2. Kay Haasma was trying a new sports drink she claimed, it looked like red wine, when she returned after making several nav. errors we knew what was really in the bottle!

Course 2 was won by 'part time biker' Paul Hoopman with evergreen MTBO rider David Tilbrook hot on his heels, while new kid on the block Antony White also on the pace.

Course 3 had Tyson Hillyard just pipping Vanessa Round. Funny thing here > they both used the same bike (at different times) which had not been riden for nearly a year! Good effort from Vanessa she had also run a gruelling fun run at Black Hill that morning and Tyson had also run at Belair that morn.... ah to be young and fit!

Newcomers Jeanette and Jason Bradlow had a good ride but unfortunately Jeanette lost her wedding ring out on the course. We hope by some miracle it is found and handed in to the ranger.

Lastly a big thanks to Sponsors > Banana Boys at Mitcham and Belair Country Club. All competitors took away coffee vouchers and sampled some of the Banana Boys tasty wares. The winner of the the Super Fruit Basket, Ian Burns, will eat well for the next week!
